The Deanna G. Taylor Academy's eSTEM Team has programmed a BBC Microbit to act as a real-time proximity alert system for individuals living with dementia or autism. When a user moves beyond a safe, pre-set boundary, paired Microbit devices communicate wirelessly to trigger an immediate alert — giving caregivers fast, reliable notifications without complex equipment.
Our goal is simple: keep vulnerable individuals safe while giving their families peace of mind. Lightweight, wearable, and easy to use, our device proves that thoughtful engineering can make a real difference in people's lives.
