Today, 6/18/2025, Hillside Public Schools and Superintendent Glover awarded the New Jersey Institute of Technology @njit eStem Challenge student winners from Hurden Looker Elementary School and Deanna G. Taylor Academy! Hurden Looker Elementary School students came in first place in the challenge, and Deanna G. Taylor Academy students came in third place, great work to our scholars! Today, Wednesday (6/11/2025), the Office of Student Support Services hosted the inaugural "Teen Challenge Program" at Deanna G. Taylor Academy! 5th-grade students from Deanna G. Taylor Academy, Hurden Looker Elementary School, and Ola Edwards Community School gathered on the field at Deanna G. Taylor Academy for a fun-filled field day of activities and demonstrations from the Hillside Police (@hillsidepolicenj) and Fire Department (@hillside_firefighters), as well as the County of Union (@unioncountynj)! Today (4/17/2025), Hillside Public Schools and @scholastic hosted their 2025 R.E.A.L. Read Festival! Hundreds of Hillside Public Schools students in grades 4 - 6 from our three elementary schools (Deanna G. Taylor Academy, Hurden Looker Elementary School, and Ola Edwards Community School) filled Woodfield Stadium for a fun-filled day with interactive literacy activities. This event culminated in the celebration of the partnership between Hillside Public Schools and Scholastic, specifically the Scholastic R.E.A.L. (Read, Excel, Achieve, Lead) Mentorship Program! The Scholastic R.E.A.L. Mentorship Program is designed to support families and community members in mentoring students through monthly interactive read-alouds, promote academic and social growth, and make a lasting impact on students’ lives!
