Construction of Hillside Public Schools District’s Deanna G. Taylor Academy Modular Addition has been completed! On Thursday, January 23, 2025, the New Wing's official grand opening/ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Deanna G. Taylor Academy! Hillside Public Schools Board of Education members, administrators, principals, partners, staff, Hillside township dignitaries, and family members of Deanna G. Taylor were all in attendance for the marvelous event! A special thank you to Superintendent Glover, Hillside Board of Education President Best, Bishop Assemblyman Reginald Atkins, Principal of Deanna G. Taylor Academy Mr. Graham, Vice-Principal Budhu, the Office of the Superintendent, the Building and Grounds Department, the Technology Department, and Maschios Food Services!
The 6,600-square-foot addition to Deanna G. Taylor Academy will enhance learning opportunities for scholars by adding four new classrooms, a new cafeteria, and a multi-purpose visual and performing arts room!

Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day from Hillside Public Schools! On Saturday, January 18th, 2025, Hillside Public Schools District hosted its Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Program at Hillside High School. The program was amazing not only because of the exceptional performances by each of our schools' students, as well as the decorative artwork done by Hillside Innovation Academy students, but also because of the high positive energy of the audience! The auditorium was full of parents, Hillside community members, Hillside Board of Education members, Hillside Town Council members, families, staff, and more! Great work to all of our students, including Hillside High School Senior Sarah Auguste who was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event! Shout out to Superintendent Glover, Hillside Board of Education President Ms. Best, U.S. Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, Hillside High School Vice-Principals Mrs. Bartholomew and Mr. Emenaka, who all spoke at the ceremony. The @scholastic R.E.A.L. Mentor Reading event took place today (1/10/2025)! Hillside Public Schools' staff members, Hillside High School students, Hillside Policemen, Firefighters, Hillside Board of Education members, and more, served as mentors! Our mentors traveled to A.P. Morris Early Childhood Center, and all the Hillside Elementary Schools to read to our young students, helping to instill a love of reading in our students! Not only were our young students read to, but they also got to bring home a new book to add to their home libraries! This past week, Deanna G. Taylor (DGTA)Academy acknowledged Red Ribbon Week with a few special activities and events! 6th-grade students participated in the door-decorating contest picking two movies (Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Hocus Pocus) to acknowledge the "Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free" theme. Scholars also partook in an essay writing contest! DGTA's National Elementary Honor Society students worked together for their Plant a Promise Service Project, in which they planted 100 red tulip bulbs that will bloom in the spring and serve as a physical reminder of the beauty of a drug-free life! Scholars were also treated to an exciting visit from our friendly neighborhood Spiderman, who visited for a school-wide Red Ribbon assembly in which students were taught about the history of Red Ribbon Week and reminded of the importance of living drug-free!

On Thursday, October 17th, 2024, Coastal Wilds’s mobile exotic animal education program (@coastalwilds) visited Deanna G. Taylor Academy! Scholars were able to hear about getting involved with natural wildlife while getting an up-close and personal experience with the different kinds of animals. Scholars participated by asking questions and responding to the speaker, making the program educational and entertaining!
